Master 2 Urban planning & development,
Urban Innovation for Cities and Territories in Transition.

Ecological transition, transformations in living habits, changes in mobility, digital revolution, civic engagement, new consumption patterns, all illustrate the changes taking place in our societies and territories.

The IUVTT program trains project managers to manage and support these transformations while respecting quality of life, citizenship and the environment.

Purpose

Emphasize approaches and practices that open up and facilitate the emergence of new solutions adapted to the many challenges currently facing regional development. Taking the user and societal acceptability into account will be both an essential dimension of enrichment and a dialogue tool for increasingly collaborative practices.

Program

The IUVTT Master’s degree specializes in engineering territorial innovation, enabling students to understand the urban territory in all its dimensions.
At the interface of engineering, management and urban planning, the IUVTT specialization prepares students to manage urban projects.

Work-study program

The course can be taken on an apprenticeship basis.

School-company rhythm

  • September to January: one week on the job per month
  • February: two weeks on the job per month
  • March to August: in-company period + 1 to 2 weeks seminar at the University

The strengths of the training program

  • Carried out in partnership with companies, institutions and local authorities, the IAUs bring together several Master’s degree specialties and offer a unique opportunity to :

    • Learn to combine expertise.
    • Learn to articulate the different scales and temporalities of the territory.
    • Develop an intervention strategy for a given region in conjunction with its stakeholders.
    • Mobilize local resources and draw on local dynamics to build a sustainable, shared project.
  • Inviting local experts to address key issues such as :

    • Understanding the challenges of the energy transition and its impact on mobility and living habits.
    • Understand the predicted changes in society.
    • Deciphering changes in lifestyles and consumption patterns, and their impact on service areas.
  • Divided into six major themes, they provide :

    • An understanding of changes in urban and rural areas.
    • An understanding of the tools used to create cities, territories and their services.
    • Identification of new sources of transformation for future cities.
    • A critical look at contemporary urban tools, practices and issues.
  • The last semester is entirely devoted to a five- to six-month professional assignment (in private design offices, institutions, local authorities, companies involved in local development, etc.).

    The entire training program is punctuated by the discovery of professions and the construction of a professional project.

On completion of the course, students will be able to move into managerial positions such as :

  • Responsible for projects in the fields of mobility, housing and public spaces, energy, health/well-being, digital services…
